Create your own fae sandals

Supplies you will need:

A pair of plain brown sandals. The soles must be either cork or rubber. Rubber soles are best because you're going to be sticking wire into the sole. Birkenstocks are also great, but rather pricey. (Check out local thrift stores for a second hand pair.) If you have a dremmel tool, you can pretty much pick any shoe you want.

4 lengths (2 for each shoe) of thin wire ribbon in dark green
Various widths of wire ribbon in various shades of greens in matching colors

faux oversized leaves (ivy, oak, or maple are all good and can usually be found at your local craft store)
4 lengths (2 for each shoe) of thin wire ribbon in a matching color

Method 1.

Step 1. First, shape the leaves. The wire ribbon in lighter green will be younger, smaller leaves. The wire ribbon in darker green will be bigger, older leaves. Cut lengths about six inches long (or longer). Give a pinch and twist to one end. This will be the pointy end of the leaf. Trim it so that you aren't left with a large fabric and wire "bunch" at the end. You can always come back with a little glue to help shape it. The leaves are modeled on a heart shape so think of this as the bottom point.

Flair the wire out to form the fatter part of the "heart". Pinch the wire again, and twist it into a stem. (The stem can't be too long, so don't worry about that.)

Step 2. After you've made your leaves, take the thin wire ribbon in dark green and start twisting. This will be the vine.

Step 3. Periodically twist one of the leaf stems into the vine and keep going. Generally, the darker, fatter leaves should go near the bottom of the vine, with the smaller lighter leaves at the top, but don't be militant about it. Twist enough vine wire to wrap around your leg from the sole of your shoe to your knee. Keep twisting in leaves, remembering to alternate sides. Don't have a hard demarcation between the colors of the leaves. Let some of the little ones be mixed in down at the base, and some of the bigger ones be in at the top.

Step 4. Stick the wire base of the vine into the sole of the shoe. Use a needle, hammer and nail, or dremmel tool to create "starter" holes. Glue the vine into the hole.

Step 5. Wrap the wire ribbon around your legs, and voila! You have fae shoes to go with your wings!

Method 2

The same as Method 1, except you skip the part where you create the leaves. Just wrap the stems of the purchased leaves in the vine and continue as with Method 1.
